25 Clear Signs You’re Now a Mom – Funny & Relatable!
There are many signs you’re now a Mom. We all seem to have that similar ‘mom look’. As a mom, you can always spot other moms from a mile off – how? We all have that same look, that one of love, but total bewilderment and exhaustion! If you’re a mom yourself, you’ll have no problem relating to these 25 things that mean you’ve made it as a Mom!
1. The “Mom Uniform”
One of the most recognizable signs of being a mom is the “mom uniform.” This typically consists of comfortable leggings or jeans, a t-shirt or sweatshirt (likely with some mysterious stains), and practical footwear. The days of high heels and dry-clean-only clothes are behind you, replaced by outfits that can withstand the rigors of parenthood.
2. Master of Multitasking
As a mom, multitasking becomes second nature. You can juggle making dinner, helping with homework, and keeping an eye on the baby all at once. Your ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is impressive and often leaves others in awe of your efficiency.
3. The Mom Bag
Gone are the days of cute, tiny purses. Now, you carry a bag that could rival Mary Poppins’. Inside, you’ll find an assortment of items ranging from snacks, wet wipes, toys, band-aids, to random objects your child handed you on the way out the door. The mom bag is a testament to your preparedness for any situation.
So today in mine I have my little man’s happy meal toy, last week I carried around spare nappies and wipes in my work to and from work (it’s a good job everyone I work with knows I have a child and didn’t think they were mine!). I also often find spare dummy’s – a total must when out and about. My favourite so far was the Fireman Sam figures I found in my work coat whilst sat at work. Who says you can’t bring toys to work and have fun?
4. Expert in Negotiation
Negotiating with toddlers should be an Olympic sport, and as a mom, you’ve become a pro. Whether it’s convincing your little one to eat their vegetables or to go to bed without a fuss, your negotiation skills are top-notch. You’ve mastered the art of compromise and persuasion, often employing creative tactics to get the desired outcome.
5. Sleep? What’s That?
Sleep deprivation is a hallmark of motherhood. Whether you’re up with a newborn, comforting a scared toddler, or waiting for your teenager to get home, sleep becomes a luxury. You’ve learned to function on minimal rest, fueled by caffeine and sheer willpower.
6. Kid’s Songs Stuck in Your Head
You know you’re a mom when you find yourself singing kids’ songs even when your children aren’t around. Songs from their favorite TV shows or nursery rhymes play on a loop in your mind, and you’ve accepted that this is now part of your life soundtrack.
7. Your Car is a Mobile Command Center
Your car has transformed into a mobile command center. It’s equipped with extra clothes, snacks, toys, and probably some forgotten socks and shoes. The backseat is likely a bit chaotic, but it’s a chaos only a mom can understand and manage. You’ve perfected the art of handing things back to the kids without taking your eyes off the road, and you’ve probably become adept at singing along to their favorite songs from the driver’s seat.
8. You Speak Fluent Kid
You’ve become fluent in “kid speak.” This includes understanding the various meanings behind your child’s cries, interpreting their half-formed sentences, and knowing exactly what they mean when they point and grunt at something. You’ve also mastered the art of speaking in a soothing, encouraging tone even in the most stressful situations.
9. Prioritizing Self-Care is a Challenge
Finding time for yourself becomes a Herculean task. Whether it’s a solo trip to the grocery store, a quick shower, or a rare night out with friends, self-care often takes a backseat to the needs of your family. When you do get a moment to yourself, you cherish it more than ever.
10. You Have a Sixth Sense
You’ve developed a sixth sense that alerts you when something is wrong, even if you’re not in the same room as your child. It’s like a built-in radar that kicks in the moment your little one needs you, whether they’re getting into something they shouldn’t or just feeling sad and needing a hug.
The form you have selected does not exist.
11. You Celebrate Small Wins
As a mom, you’ve learned to celebrate the small victories. Whether it’s getting your child to try a new food, finally getting them to sleep through the night, or just managing to get out the door on time, you recognize and appreciate these moments of success.
12. Your Heart is Full
Despite the exhaustion, the mess, and the endless challenges, your heart is fuller than ever. The love you have for your children and the joy they bring to your life make every difficult moment worth it. You’ve discovered a depth of love and resilience you never knew existed.
13. Bags Under Your Eyes
It’s well known that moms get little sleep, hence the consent bags under the eyes. Daily I look like a bloody panda, so much so I’ve considered changing my entire make-up look to that of a panda so that the eyes fit my face. My Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighting Pen is my very best friend.

14. Bushy Eyebrows
I don’t pluck my eyebrows as often as I should. When I’m shattered, it’s hard to focus looking in the mirror with the tweezers. Not the easiest of tasks. So how do I solve this problem – I have ’emergency tweezers’ I keep in the car (oh yes, this is real!). After I’ve dropped the little man off at pre-school and driven to my work and parked, I have approximately 15 minutes of ‘free’ time. I admit it I pluck my eyebrows whilst sat in the car using the tiny mirror in the sun-visor. Classy.

15. The Mom Bun
The “mom bun” is a practical hairstyle that keeps your hair out of your face and away from grabby little hands. It’s quick, easy, and has become a staple look for moms everywhere. I think I’ve lived with the same hairstyle for the last 10 years. I really must find something else quick and simple to do.
16. Sick and Spit-Up on Clothes
We’ve all been there, it’s halfway through the day and you realise you’ve been walking around with a lovely milk stain on your shoulder or chocolate fingerprints on your leggings. To the outside world, you look like a right tramp who hasn’t washed her clothes. However, the reality is kids are mucky little creatures, which they so lovingly remind you of when they wipe their nose on their hands and wipe it off on you – thanks – love you to mate.
17. Going to the Shops Alone Feels Like a Holiday
The rare moments when you get to go shopping alone feel like a mini-vacation. You savor the peace and quiet, even if you’re just running errands.
18. You Never Go to the Bathroom Alone
Privacy becomes a thing of the past once you become a mom. Whether they’re knocking on the door or barging right in, your kids always seem to need you the moment you try to take a bathroom break.
19. You Use Baby Wipes to Clean Up Everything
Baby wipes become your go-to cleaning tool for everything from dirty faces to spills on the floor. Their versatility makes them indispensable in your daily mom routine.
20. Re-Washing the Same Load of Laundry
The constant distractions mean you often forget to transfer the laundry to the dryer. This leads to re-washing the same load multiple times because it now smells funny.
21. Wearing the Same Pair of Leggings Despite Fingerprints
Comfort and practicality win over fashion, so you might find yourself wearing the same pair of leggings for multiple days, even if they have grubby little fingerprints on them.
22. Finishing Your Kids’ Meals
Moms hate to see good food go to waste, so finishing your kids’ meals becomes a common practice. It’s an efficient way to ensure nothing is wasted, and it might be the only chance you get to eat during the day.
23. Down-Grading Hair Washing Frequency
Washing your hair becomes a luxury, often downgraded to just a couple of times a week. Dry shampoo becomes your best friend as you manage to squeeze in quick refreshes between busy mom duties.
24. Hating Everything to Do with ‘World Book Day’
The mere mention of ‘World Book Day’ fills you with dread. The pressure to come up with creative costumes and activities can be overwhelming amidst your already packed schedule.
25. Dreading School Letters
School letters often bring news of yet another event or need, whether it’s a dress-up day, a sponsored event, or a request for money. Each new letter adds to the list of things you need to manage and prepare for.
Final Thoughts
I must look a million dollars walking around with panda eyes, bushy eyebrows and my dirty clothes. OK, maybe not, but when my little man tells me ‘mummy I love you’ I feel like a million dollars.
What are your suggestions to do with signs you’re a mom? I’d love to hear them in the comments below! Don’t forget we all need some self care too – so take care of yourself!

In the eyes of our kids we will always be beautiful although I’m not so keen on mine playing with my squidgy belly ❤️
Yeah same here my little man runs up to me and pokes me in my belly lol ☺️
Haha yep, this is me! I just went to my daughters school open evening and noticed I had pizza sauce down my top. Talk about first impressions!! #puddinglove
It happens! I’m forever going into work and I’m like what the hell I was clean 10mins ago!
haha! I tweeze in the car too! I don’t find toys in my bag anymore now the kids are older, but I have noticed MY lipgloss is missing more often that not! My teen is a ‘tea leaf’ lol #puddinglove
It’s so nice to find a tweeze in the car buddy! Some days I think maybe just maybe I’ve slightly cracked under this parenting game!
Hahaha!!! I am so glad I shaved my legs last night, otherwise this would of been 100% ME!!! Thanks for the laugh!! xxx
I still haven’t done mine! Managed the eyebrows in the car yesterday morning though after I remember I was conducting interviews that day at work so thought I best look more professional !!! #mumfail
Great post! Gave me a laugh for sure. I used to resemble all of these remarks. As the kids get bigger you can manage a few extra minutes to yourself – sometimes. I try to take a few minutes with the tweezers, but I always get interrupted by my girls wondering why I could possibly want to pull hairs out of my face.
Loved this post! #puddinglove
It’s so true I always get mummy what you doing, can I have a go, but why! It’s easier to give up than shave or pluck with an audience lol
Ha ha, I fit most of these categories! The figures in your pocket must have made you smile though!
Absolutely I was at work and out my hand in my pocket to get my car keys and pulled out fireman Sam and Penny – I was like yep I’m a mum lol
Hmm tweezing in the car – what a great idea. Might bring the razor along and do legs too 😉
Lol you gotta do what you can when you can
Spot on! Gone are the days of the changing bag in our house as my son is 3 but my handbag is full of spare pants (his not mine!), snacks, kinder egg toys and a variety of other crap! #bestandworst
Oh yes, I can relate to each and every one of these. Especially the need for caffeine and the bushy eyebrows. I actually cannot even remember the last time I went anywhere near them with a pair of tweezers! 🙂
Sometimes I rock the awesome uni-brow look
Very much enjoyed this. We certainly all do these things at one time or another. Also I’m also weird and pluck my eye brows in the parking lot at my work in my car probably once a week. I mean hey you got to do what you got to do. And I really wish I had more energy to shave my legs. My friends who aren’t moms frequently give me the eye roll when I say this. But who has that long to spend in the shower these days.
#PuddingLove #TribalLove
We’re Mums we don’t have time for hours of personal grooming. I’m lucky if I get 5 mins peace on a good day lol!
Oh man I need to shave my legs. The other day I found some of my daughter’s knickers in my bag at work. Got to love it eh? So true and thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x
One day we’ll have time for these things again
Ha ha great post – I once went to a course with a set of toddler keys in my bag and everytime I shuffled my feet they would go off with a doorbell sound! The trainer kept telling people to turn their mobile phones off… Still despite the panda eyes, large eyebrows and constant coffee breath, you are right its totally worth it when they say ‘I love you’ Thanks for sharing with #PuddingLove x
Lol loving the toddler keys in your bag! I keep finding dummies in the bottom of my handbag I think they are multiplying in there!
Ah that’s such a lovely way to finish the post. My boys are 11 and 7 and I still have most of these things! Particularly the dark skin under my eyes and the ponytail!
Ah well, it’s all worth it in the end isn’t it?
Aww thanks it is all worth it – even with all of the above!
I love a bit of Touche Eclat – lifesaver!!
#fortheloveofBLOG
Definitely at least then I only look semi dead not completely dead!
I so get this! It’s exhausting and the idea of making sure I am plucked, shaved, clean clothed and smiling every day is ridiculous unless you have an army in the house! Rather my daughters know what’s important to me which is them! Sometimes I look ok, sometimes like crap but I’m there and that’s what matters!
And that should include #justanotherlinky
Totally agree I’d rather be there for them than spend ages away from them that can wait lol. We will have plenty of time to do these things when they’re older 🙂
3,4 & 7 are totally me hahah!
Love this post it’s brilliant
oh this is so true when they are small and I know you’re going to find this hard to believe but as they get older all that care for you gets a whole lot easier – I promise! #fortheloveofBLOG
It would be nice to have some peace every now and again lol
Oh goodness this is all so true on every level. Unshaven legs and Mummy ponytail is definitely me! #MarvMondays
Is mums are living the dream lol!
Oh the amount of times I’ve been leaving work, looking for my car keys and I pull random child type things from my bag! My colleagues find it most amusing! Great post and good to know we’re not alone in these things! 🙂 #fortheloveofBLOG
I had happy meal toys in my work bag last week was tempted to have a play hahaha
Swap the pony tail for a bun and this is me! Brilliant post!
#MarvMondays
#fortheloveofBLOG
Oohhhh a bun – now there’s a new look I could try. Yup going to mix it up with the pony tail!
This made me giggle!!
I’m going to look the most fashionable person in the office tomorrow – they won’t know what’s hit them will my new look!!
Haha you go girl!!
Haha I’m defo a mummy! Brilliant post. Thanks for linking up to #justanotherlinky xx
I liked coffee before I had a kid, after dinner with brunch. Now I am fuelled by it.
Yup! All this along with leaky nipples and I’m soon to do it all again soon (though I won’t be as new this time, hopefully I’m a pro now)! Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays. Kaye xo
Oh god I do not miss those!
I am very guilty of these “mum traits” especially random items in my handbag and constantly in need of caffeine (or wine!). It’s funny that once we become a Mum we let certain things go – like shaving legs. I’m also guilty of constantly talking about my baby to friends and family too. A post that lots of us can relate to, thanks for linking up at this week at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
Yeah same here all I talk about is my little man and I must drive my Facebook friends insane with updates and photos on him and his life
I have all of those except the unshaven legs, but only because we’ve been on a spa break!! #justanotherlinky
I SO need a spa break!!
So true! My eyebrows are a disaster these days! #justanotherlinky
Love this post & I can see myself in all these 7 points! I actually really like your idea of keeping a spare pair of tweezers in the car! #MarvMondays
Haha yes to most of these – especially the eye bags! #MarvMondays
definitely have the unshaven legs lol
HAHA yes these are completely true and is nice to know not only me !!. the ponytail is always the hairstyle of choice or if have an extra minute a messy bun !!. #weekedendblogshare
LOL my youngest is 7 now and I still have the mom ponytail
Great post love the humour xx Pixie
This is Absolutly spot on!!! I’m former pulling out toys and dummies from my bag or jacket pockets even when I don’t have him with me haha one day I forgot I had one around my finger…. was so bad. Also, yes to all the caffeine!

This is such fun post- I loved it! X
I can relate. Today I was just too tired to put my make up on and do my hair and wear nice clothes even though we were going to a party. I just put on some leggings, a comfy t shirt, put my hair in a pony tale and we were on or way. I ended up with chalk all over my leggings bc my one year old was playing with it. Oh well. That’s a mom life! Lol!
I’m at work with leggings a comfy top and pony tail as that’s all I had time for – it’s takes so long to dress a 3 year old lol X
I think I can pretty much tick all of these off my list! Definitely 7 signs of being a mum, especially the mum pony tail and the random child paraphenalia in my bags! Emily #BrilliantBlogPosts
You would spot me coming a mile away. Tick to all of the above! #FartGlitter
Yep sounds like me. And I seem to have developed a mummy wardrobe consisting of leggings and baggy T. Very swish and trendy! #FartGlitter
Ha! I found this random toy lettuce leaf in my bag the other day! My legs can go a month now without a shave and it’s my mum bun for my hair! Brilliant ! Xx #fartglitter
Haha! Yep – I sport every one of these! My sister (child free) showed me a video of “microblading” the other day, quite convinced that I would love the idea and sign up for a course of eyebrow slicing and colouring in immediately. She then took one look at my bedraggled catterpillars and raised one of her very own perfectly shaped ones in disapproval at me. I told her I’m lucky if mine see a tweezer, let along a “microblade” 😉 Thanks for linking up lovely. #fartglitter x
Just brilliant! Every single one of these points applies to me!
#FartGlitter
Sadly all of these are true for me. Every six months I get a child free day to get my brows done and the woman is like, what do you expect me to do with these! #FartGlitter
Love it! I haven’t (yet) succumbed to coffee as i can’t stand the taste and my ponytail is a side plait, but I am totally with you! :o)x #brilliantblogposts
With four small girls my purse is an abiss of random crap! Crumbs, wrappers and tampons.
#fartglitter
You’ve forgotten the vat of wine in the fridge – and chocolate stuffed cupboards!! #fartglitter
Completely relate with this post! I have wet wipes everywhere!
Written one on similar lines too… https://talesfrommamaville.wordpress.com/2016/02/24/10-giveaway-signs-youre-a-new-mum/
#FartGlitter
Even with older kids my bag is still full of stuff so I can never find what I want. Great post #brilliantblogposts
I have a permanent mum bun but I draw the line at the eyebrows, once a month I go and get them waxed merely for 15 minutes peace away from my four children!!! #Brilliantblogpost
That sounds like a fab idea I might have to do that to!
Oh yes, this is definitely me! I have been sporting either a bun or a pony tail since my little one was born and have cut in a fringe too (it’s great for hiding the bushy eyebrows). I think another way of spotting fellow mum is how they react to your child having a tantrum – if they react sympathetically, or give you that knowing smile, you know they are a fellow parent!
Most definitely agree with the random child items in your bag… every time i delve in there something random like a nappy bag or an empty fruit shoot! <3
I keep finding the little plastic lids off the fruit shoots in my coat pockets
Haha I totally found two of those in the same compartment of my bag the other day!! <3
Haha! Good thing I shaved my legs last night (;
Seriously though, this is funny – ESPECIALLY the child’s items in handbag, so me!
I think my handbag is full of more kids stuff than my own things!
