All designed to make the next nine months a little more comfy for you!
I recommend the following pregnancy must haves.
First Trimester Pregnancy Must Haves
1. Prenatal Vitamins
During pregnancy, you need to make sure that you are getting all the vitamins necessary for healthy growth of your baby. Please use pregnancy vitamins as opposed to normal ones as their levels have been specially formulated to be safe during pregnancy.
I use these pregnacare tablets. You have to take two different tablets a day. One is your recommended daily intake of folic acid plus all the other vitamins you need. The other is a fish oil tablet which contains DHA which contributes to brain and eye development of your baby.
2. Morning Sickness Relief
Morning sickness is pretty common in the first trimester. Luckily, most woman find by the second and third trimester it goes away.
I like to call it “all day everyday sickness” totally sucks. It left me feeling really fed up, and I was finding difficult to concentrate at work as the nausea was so overwhelming.
There are many things you can try to relieve your symptoms, so try them all and see which works best for you.
For me, the thing that worked was Refresher chew bars. Not at all know as a morning sickness remedy, but it really worked for me! I don’t know why, but hey if it works; it works!
Many Mums swear by these pressure bands for morning sickness.
Doctors clinically tested and recommended it and midwifes.
The Sea-Band is the perfect drug-free solution, and it works by applying acupressure to two points on the wrists.
This can offer you some relief from the nausea and vomiting suffered by many mamas during pregnancy.
3. Water Bottle
It’s important to stay hydrated during pregnancy.
At the moment I’m finding I feel thirsty and have a dry mouth all the time, so I’ve invested in a couple of water bottles.
I’ve got one for bedtime so I can put it next to my bed. It’s easy to drink from in the middle of the night when I can’t see a thing.
Also, I have a water bottle for at work. It’s useful to have it as a bottle, as if I accidentally knock it, I don’t get water all over my desk and computer!
4. Bra Extender
You might find your normal bras are getting a little tight.
Swollen breasts are common during the first trimester.
These bra extenders are a perfectly cheap way to make your current bras a little bigger instead of investing it in a whole new set.
5. Decaf Tea and Coffee
During pregnancy, they advise you cut down on your caffeine intake.
If you’re like me however and you enjoy a good cuppa, then you could try decaf tea and coffee.
I’m not going to lie – I don’t find it as enjoyable, but it will do until after the baby is here!
Pregnancy Caffeine Alternatives:
Herbal Tea: Herbal tea can be a great way to get your caffeine fix without having to worry about the side effects of coffee. There are many different types of herbal tea, so find one that you like and that will help you to stay energized.
Green Juice: Green juice is packed with nutrients that are beneficial for both you and your baby. It can be a great way to get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables, and it is also a good source of energy.
6. Pregnancy Journal
Use this pregnancy journal to record all the wonderful thoughts, feeling and experiences you’ll have over the next nine months.
It will make a beautiful keep-sake for when your baby is older.
It is also helpful to see what symptoms you’ve experienced and when if case you need to record these for your midwife.

7. Maternity Leggings / Maternity Jeans
Your belly is going to expand during pregnancy – that a given! Investing in a couple of pairs of maternity leggings and jeans are well worth it. As your stomach gets bigger and bigger, they stretch with you, saving you the expense of having to buy another pair. Plus, they are super comfy.
There are two main types you can get. Over the bump or over the bump. The choice is totally up to you, so try on both types and see which works best for you. I preferred the over the bump ones as I wore mine after my c-section too, as they didn’t rub on my scar or put to pressure on it.
Maternity Pants : You will probably start to notice that your regular pants are getting a bit snug in the first trimester. Maternity pants will give you the extra room you need and will be more comfortable.
Maternity Tanks : You will want to invest in a few good quality maternity tanks. You can wear them alone or layer them under shirts and dresses.
Maternity Tights : Maternity tights are great for layering under dresses and skirts. They will keep you warm in the winter and can be worn year round.
8. Stretch Mark Cream
OK, so we all know there is no magical cure to stop stretch marks from happening. Sorry, it’s genetic whether you’ll get them!
But you can help reduce the appearance of them – so I figure that’s better that nothing, you could try using a belly oil.
Like many people, I use Bio Oil which I love! Pick one that works best for you though, we are all different.
9. Pregnancy Pillow / Body Pillow
I started using my pregnancy pillow at about 3 months into my pregnancy.
For the life of me, I just could not get comfy. This pillow was magic!
I found it supports my bump really well and because of its shape, I can also put the pillow between my legs for extra comfort.
During both my pregnancies, I used this pregnancy pillow.

Belly bands give your bump and back gentle support, especially in the later stages of pregnancy when your bump is at its largest.
